A Change Over The Years (peasant point of view)

In the 1700's, life was extremely hard for a peasant. Divine Right and absolute monarchy overpowered and took away the many rights and freedoms peasants have in todays time. William and Mary of Orange first introduced the Bill of Rights, which changed the lives of many lower class. In present time, there is no such classification as "peasant". You are merely categorized as middle class or lower class if you face poverty. But the Government witnessed a drastic change from the time that Scotland and England decided to unite till the addition of Ireland and now Whales. Laws, leadership, government, and the social life of all classes of people have changed. More rights are given to the people and power is divided generally speaking generously amongst officials and the public. From 1700 to 2008, there has been a change over the years.

The United Kingdom Today

The United Kingdom today has changed greatly, yet it has kept it's culture and outlook the same. There is still a Queen of England, however she does not make any of the decisions for the land. The Prime Minister makes decisions on taxes, wars and ect. The last prime minister was Colin Powell and now he has been replaced with Gordon Brown. They have both done great things to better their nations. The United Kingdom has joined in the war in Iraq. Their help has greatly aided the War over Terrorism. Another new fact about England is that it has many more immigrants in it than before. Many people migrated from India to live in England.
They have also colonized a bit more by adding a couple of
islands.

United Kingdom from history to today

England has existed as a unified entity since the 10Th century. In the Act of Union in 1707, England and Scotland agreed to permanently join as Great Britain. Some of the ruling houses of the United Kingdom include the Stuarts, the Hanovers, the Tudors, and the Windsors. However, our country has changed vastly since the beginning of the century. In June 2001, Tony Blair won a second landslide victory, with the Labour Party capturing 413 seats in parliament Also, we became a prominent ally of the U.S. after the Sept. 11 attacks. Our troops joined the U.S. in the bombing campaign against Afghanistan in Oct. 2001, after the Taliban-led government refused to turn over the prime suspect in the terrorist attacks, Osama bin Laden. We have had several terrorist bombings in our countries over the past few years. Our alert for these bombs is high and we are doing all we can to protect our country.

Chapter 29- A prisoners point of view

I just want to go home. I dont even know how i made it this far without dying. My brothers and sisters who are younger then me were "sent to take a shower", but it was no shower. I have been stripped of all my pride and dignity. I feel so horrible, and hungry, i am so hungry. You would think that will all the new technology from the war that someone would find me here. I am afraid to speak in front of a Nazi, the man working next to me yesterday didnt finish his job as quickly as the others, so i offered him some of my food. Otherwise he would have gone all day without a meal. Please help me escape from this horrible place. I just have to keep praying to live another day.

Chapter 28- A Women's point of view

My country has changed so much. The war has robbed me of my husband and son, I hope they return home alright. Here in France everyone is frantic, we just want everything to get better. I've seen a change in the economy though, and new technology. My husbands letter says he was in a trench and the conditions were terrible. Even though with the US involved now, i think we have a great chance of winning, i hope that he returns home safely.

ch 29 - view from a soldier

War has broken out, it is even more involved than the one we just finished fighting. It feels like it was just last week we finished fighting and here we are again. The rise in facism in our neighbor Germany has brought out many strong nationalistic feelings. There is a new man who has taken over named Adolf Hitler. He is very frightning and i know he is up to no good. Is our leader Churchill smart enough to realize this? I think so, he has a good head on his shoulders and knowns how to protect his country. We joined in this war after they invaded Poland and put us all in danger. The battle we are most known for is the Battle of Britain. It was mainly an arial battle and the Royla Air Force was finally put to use. This battle ensured the survival of an independent Britain and marked the first major reverse in the German war effort.

Ch 28 - View from a pesant

Things have been changing greatly in our country over the past few years. WWI is finally over and everyone is back home. The war was a brutal one and many people from our town perished. Our country did well, we joined in the war to protect our neighboring country Belgium. New advances in war came about, like poison gas, tanks, trench warfare, and submarines. These advances changed the face of war forever. Now, people around the globe are making advances in things like Psychology and physics. We have many new art styles arising and architecture styles too. I can see our country headed for a good turn.
