View from the point of a monarch

This has been a very eventful era for the rest of our neighboring countries. First of all, Italy has now become unify ed. After a long struggle and many small battles they are now a complete country. Thanks to the help of their neighbors France. Also during this time, another country Germany was unify ed. One very smart man did not think two main powers could reside in one country successfully and he as right. There was one battle that we helped in, the Crimean War. This war showed Russia's lack of technology. On the home front not many monumental things have been going on. We are growing and prospering. Throughout this century we have had a few different monarchs and right now in power is me, Queen Victoria. I am going to try to help our country grow even more. This is going to be a big time for expansion and victory. On the right is Europe before all the unification. Located to the left is a map of Europe now.

My country has recently gained a lot of money from the war. The cost of living shall be much easier now that my country has money to spare. I even got a raise at the mill the other day. But I still don't feel like they are treating us equally there. However it is getting increasingly difficult to be a Catholic here. Everyone is becoming a Protestant now, but I refuse to change. The other day I heard a that taxes for the rich were going to be raised by the liberal party. Wleshman David Lloyd George is the head of the liberal party right now. I'm thanking heaven that I am not a wealthier person for once, because their taxes were raised tremendously.
